Evaluation of the Trial of the National Disability Insurance Scheme

The National Institute of Labour Studies (NILS), at Flinders University, is leading a consortium that will evaluate the trial of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). This independent evaluation has been commissioned by the Australian Government Department of Social Services (DSS).

The NILS-led team will monitor and evaluate the experience of participants, and their families and carers, service providers and their workforces in the trial sites of the Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, New South Wales, Northern Territory, South Australia and Tasmania.

Older People Study

As part of the NDIS Evaluation we want to find out if the NDIS is making a difference to older people with disability. The main aim of the Older People Study is to understand what supports NDIS participants are getting compared to older people with disability who are not part of the NDIS.

We would like to speak with a small number of:

  • people with disability aged 59 years and older who have joined the NDIS in New South Wales and Victoria
  • people with disability aged 64 – 70 years who are not in the NDIS and are living in South Australia and Victoria
  • disability and aged care providers working with older people with disability

The interviews will last for about 60 minutes. They will be conducted at a time and place that are convenient to you.

If you are interested in taking part in the Older People Study please call us on 1800 265 648 or email us at ndisevaluation@flinders.edu.au

NDIS Survey 2016

The NDIS Survey and the NDIS Survey for Families and Carers is now underway.  Registration packs are currently being sent out to potential participants.

The registration pack includes information about the survey and the ways that the survey can be completed. The survey is available in hardcopy booklet, online or can be done by telephone interview. Parts of the survey are also available in Easy English and these can be completed in hard copy form, online or by telephone too.

Both NDIS participants and people with disability who are not yet part of the NDIS; and their families and carers have been invited to take part in this important survey.

We are asking people in the NDIS about their experiences of disability supports and the impact that the NDIS is having on their lives. We also want to know about the experiences of people who are not in the NDIS now but may be in the future. This will help us build a picture about the introduction of the NDIS to make sure that it is implemented across Australia in the best way possible. Hearing what the people who are most affected have to say will help to guide the future development of the NDIS. Roy Morgan Research is undertaking the survey.

You can find out more about the NDIS Survey from the following links.  Information is in Standard English and in Easy English.
